A leader with a dream of making leaders

Not many wish to study after graduating and pursuing an MBA in their course of the journey, but Dr. Abhijit Sarkar had different plans. He believes gaining knowledge and sharing knowledge are the two things a person should never stop doing. So he worked his way and was recruited for the Administration and Personnel department. He did an MBA in HR post his graduation, where he was more inclined towards Industrial relations and Hiring. Dr. Abhijit has worked with ICICI securities, Bombay Dyeing, etc., in a prominent leadership position where he could make some difference.

His skill sets were so flourishing that the directors themselves thought of him as a perfect fit as an Administrator. So they started engaging him in-depth towards that department as he was also studying law; Dr. Abhijit was also provided with the opportunity to manage the legal aspects to learn that department too. According to Dr. Abhijit, the admin department was full of challenges as their transformation happens regularly. However, he has always been passionate about doing something impossible rather than following a regular daily routine and believes in being innovative, which fascinates him. In real estate, there is a lot of exposure to grooming yourself. The administration is beyond housekeeping and security, things have changed from conventional to agile mode, and everything’s possible due to the new technologies coming in.

Dr. Abhijit also has a diploma in Architecture and Interior designing, which exposed him to work with various architects and different designs, helping him attribute his viewpoint. According to him, understanding the requirements in terms of changes is necessary, which helps gain confidence. This field is more about versatility and innovation. Covid has given a new dimension to the workplace; being collaborative to reach your goals and be successful. As a leader, the individual must know the latest trends and analyze everything new in the market. Uncertainties are a part of life where adapting to technologies becomes essential to work and know the variable redundancies. Proper planning and redundancy are way more important as your patience and communication skills will bring you prominence.

He had ten projects on board already working, but the lockdown came into place not so long. With all the hygiene factors and protocols, his team and architects came together, and every project was completed in stipulated time. He worked in an organization that was one of the prominent shipping companies in India. He continuously continued surfing the internet, and finally, after nurturing it, he realized that he has a versatile talent. He scaled up his abilities to a new dimension in these long seven years, which defined him as a real estate proficient.

Efficient planning and controlling processes matter for managing any project. Appointing the right person for the correct approach is very important, according to Dr. Abhijit. The workplace will give you the ability to bring people together and create synergy among everyone. More people collaboratively working with new technologies provides those ice breaking ideas and leads the organization. Work from home feels good for now but won’t last long as there’s no social engagement with most of the people you had synergy with.

Dr. Abhijit believes the satisfaction in a handshake won’t give you the same feeling when meeting on a virtual video call. For every organization, many infrastructure upskilling will be required to acquire productivity and maintain professional discipline. He aims to create more leaders and share knowledge to ensure the qualification in terms of real estate into the institutes.

“Be agile and keep learning about the new trends, adapt to the change, and keep the cycle going.” – Dr. Abhijit Sarkar
