Mr Khurshed Gandhi is the Managing Director, consulting services at Cushman & Wakefield.

This time we have with us a very eminent personality to share his insightful thoughts & his journey of life & glimpses of his expertise on the wave forward on the real estate & interior fit-out industry. Mr Khurshed Gandhi is the Managing Director, consulting services at Cushman & Wakefield.

• How he started?
Khurshed shares an interesting fact about himself in this interview. He shares the fact that initially, he was a person who stumbled while consulting. While he was pursuing CA, one of his friends had pulled him into EY & made him work in consulting. That was the point where he realised that he had the flair & mind for it and he liked the fact that every day there was something different to do. Thereafter, he had an opportunity to join real estate and it has been interesting for him, ever since.

He says that being someone who has followed the industry from the last 16-17 years, there has been many ups & downs and a lot of interesting changes, which has given us a lot of impetus to be in this space.

• Inspirations
Like all of our guest even Khurshed points out how this industry is ever-evolving, the fastest growing and how he loves this fact about the real estate industry. He says the speed of growth of this industry is very rapid, in fact, at times we find it growing faster than others. The major drive for Mr Gandhi comes from the competitiveness of the industry.

• Past Projects and Experience
During the conversation, Mr Gandhi also shares his experiences of various projects & talks about the best projects among the various others. He loved to work on the airports a lot as he started his career with building up airports. Through all of this, we have also had a short glimpse where Khurshed shares about the most defining moment of his life. He says, he has had such moment twice, the first was when he realised that he could not do it all by himself. The second was when he had to make that separation or draw the line between his work & life, however, he outshined that moment of his life by creating a work-life blend for himself.

• Vision Post Covid-19
Khurshed while sharing his insights on the post covid situations says that there are a lot of industries that have been impacted by the pandemic (inaudible). His thought on this was that everyone should be flexible enough with the situation to grow and survive just like the film industry has done. He lays an example where this industry has adopted a completely new approach and used things like Unreal Studio, where people can shoot films sitting back at their homes.

• Final Words
The last piece of advice from our infraleader for the young ones out there is that don’t be afraid to get up and make a call, it doesn’t matter where you belong or which institute you’ve studied in. If you believe in yourself and if you believe you have that attitude to reach out and make a call and do not limit yourself. Be upfront and seek for advice as he emphasises on being opportunistic is very important for an individual to be successful.
